AIP Online Group Health Coaching Program
Need Refreshing? You are in the right place. You don’t have to do it alone.
Living with autoimmune disease can seem daunting and discouraging. But there is HOPE!
Many people with autoimmune disease are able to calm inflammation, lower their immune response, and find symptom relief through the Autoimmune Paleo protocol, commonly called AIP. This online group health coaching program may make all the difference for you!
This AIP program is designed specifically for those with autoimmune disease who want to address the root-cause of those things that are triggering symptoms in the body. However, when body systems become dysregulated due to exposure to inflammatory foods, lack of necessary micronutrients resulting in chronic systemic inflammation, you see evidence in not only the development of autoimmune disease but also in these symptoms:
- plaque build up in the arteries (cardiovascular disease)
- excessive fatigue
- weight gain especially around the waist (metabolic dysregulation)
- foggy thinking
- poor bone formation (osteoporosis)
- joint or muscle pain (arthritis)
- skin issues (eczema/psoriasis)
- seasonal allergies
- digestive issues (IBS/IBD/acid reflux, gas/bloating, diarrhea/constipation)
- headaches and migraines
- hormonal imbalances
- protein build up in the brain (Parkinson’s/Alzheimer’s)
This program is designed for people who want to address the root cause of dysfunction in the body through food and modifiable lifestyle factors. You may be new to AIP, are embarking on your doctor's prescribed elimination diet, are reattempting one, or maybe you've done AIP before but need a refresher. If you are brand new to AIP, then you can visit this website for more information, or schedule a free consult call with me to learn more about it and what to expect, or keep reading below.
Are you needing a little hope, support and encouragement?
When I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2011, I was determined to take back my life! It takes hard work and commitment but it is possible! I know first hand that autoimmune disease doesn’t have to hold you back! You can make the lifestyle changes to take back your health and calm your symptoms. I have no signs of Crohn’s today and have more energy and life than I did when I was younger!
This 8-week online group health coaching program will help you learn how to use the Autoimmune Paleo protocol to calm symptoms, lower inflammation and rebuild your health. After completing the program, clients tell me they feel better than they have in years!
Conventional medicine has let us down. It often takes years to receive an autoimmune diagnosis. Once diagnosed, they can only offer harsh medication to suppress the symptoms. They tell you that autoimmune disease just happens sometimes and that food and lifestyle have nothing to do with it.
That is simply not true. Food is medicine – or poison for some of us. There is a better way!
I know you have been frustrated, and isolated in dealing with this on your own. Now you don’t have to do this alone! And, you can feel better knowing you are addressing something that is within your control! Lifestyle factors like food, sleep, movement, stress management, and connections are areas that impact health in profound ways!
Together we can use food, faith and these Functional Medicine principles to address the root-cause, not just the symptoms.
I am Dixie Mehrens, a Functional Medicine Certified, National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and an Autoimmune Paleo (AIP) Certified Coach. I use my personal and professional knowledge to teach you how to take charge of your health. I want you to feel empowered by this information and confident in what changes you need to make to best support your condition, calm symptoms, reenergize, and find a sustainable healthy future.
8-Weeks that will change your outlook!
I designed this program after completing the AIP training program which was based on Dr. Sarah Ballantyne’s book The Paleo Approach, Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body. It was co-lead by The Autoimmune Wellness duo Mickey Trescott, NTP and Angie Alt, NTC, CHC.
This 8-week program is comprehensive. It will include a weekly live group coaching session where you will receive a weekly lesson, can ask questions, and receive coaching support and encouragement. You will also have access to weekly modules that include videos and audios to go through at your own pace. Plus, you’ll receive handouts, self-tests, meal ideas, and even more bonus videos.
I take a slow approach to transitioning into the full AIP way of eating but also address the emotional side of autoimmune disease and the lifestyle factors that play into your overall health. I feel like it is important for you to have a good understanding of what happens in the body because knowledge is power. That power helps you make the best choices for your body.
Whether you are new to AIP, or you have done AIP or another elimination diet in the past but struggled with a particular aspect of it, you will find this program worth its weight in gold!
Expect to spend about 2-3 hours per week engaging with the materials and in coaching. The good news is that you won’t be doing this alone! And, you can also include or exclude foods according to what your doctor has instructed. This is about you taking charge of your health and implementing change that makes a difference!
Are you ready to take back your health?
“Now it’s time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessings to refresh you, and send you…Jesus.” Acts 3:19 (MSG)
Over the years various symptoms would rise but each time I would see a conventional doctor and take a medication for it. No one ever asked what was causing these symptoms. It started with anxiety attacks that lead to depression, despite a wonderfully blessed life. Then, hypothyroidism. Reoccurent infections – usually with rounds of antibiotics. Dental troubles. Long-term anemia. Fatigue. Debilitating fatigue. Digestive troubles. And, it continued to snowball.
I eventually ended up seeing a gastroenterologist and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. I wanted to know what caused it and how to prevent or reverse it. The doctor just wanted me to come back when I was worse to talk about medications that could suppress my symptoms. I wanted to know the root cause so I could make different choices and prevent the acceleration of the disease. The outlook for Crohn’s is grim. That was not the future I wanted for myself.
I began researching how foods can affect the body and did an elimination diet to discover what foods might be immune system triggers for me. In doing that, I discovered numerous food sensitivities. I changed what I ate. This changed my life.
Nearly all the digestive issues I was having resolved themselves after avoiding the foods my body was reacting to and by taking steps to restore my gut. I sought the help of a Functional Medicine practitioner to help with the fine-tuning, supplementation and additional lab testing. I became myself again and got my energy and life back! But, it can be a difficult, long and sometimes lonely journey. That is what lead me into health coaching and creating this program.
Elimination food plans are the gold standard for identifying food intolerances and sensitivities. You know how your body feels! This teaches you how to listen to your body even more closely! And, this is what changed my life!
But this program is more than just learning about foods. This addresses the mental and emotional side of the journey, the practical side of organizing yourself, garnering the support you need, and implementing the lifestyle changes that work synergistically to support your health.
There is nothing worse than finishing a program and feeling like you didn’t have all the information. That is NOT the case with this. It is completely comprehensive. You have to do the work, and cook for yourself, but you won’t be left wanting to know the practical side of implementing AIP.
“I wanted help with the AIP program and especially reintroduction. I tried it on my own and wasn’t where I wanted to be. With Dixie’s help I’ve been able to discover what has been holding me back and move forward. This was so helpful to me. She encouraged me to be persistent and confident. I haven’t felt this good in years. The program well exceeded my expectations. I now have hope. That’s worth everything.” - Ann B. in Oklahoma
